Why Choose the International Program Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (International Program) Course ?

“IEC, we bring forward chemical solutions to engineering challenges.”

The Department of Chemistry at KMITL’s Faculty of Science has developed a cutting-edge program called IEC that brings together the fields of industrial chemistry and chemical engineering to provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges. The program’s mission is to train students to apply their knowledge of chemistry to practical industry problems and provide them with a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles. With this program, students will gain a unique perspective on problem-solving and be well-equipped to address complex issues in their future careers. The objective of this degree program is to bridge the knowledge gap between chemists and engineers in the industry. While typical chemistry programs focus on fundamental chemistry concepts, the Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (IEC) program aims to prepare chemists capable of applying scientific principles to industry-related practices. This is the first program in Thailand that integrates basic chemistry and engineering chemistry, emphasizing the practical application of chemical knowledge to industrial processes.

Why Choose the International Program Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (International Program) Course at KMITL ?

IEC is a unique program in Thailand that offers chemical solutions to engineering problems, and it is the first of its kind in the country. Developed from the former international programs (B.Sc. Polymer Technology and B.Sc. Petrochemical Technology) by the Chemistry Department, which has been operating since 1999, the IEC curriculum aims to equip students with both core chemistry knowledge and chemical engineering know-how to enable them to work alongside engineers. There are three different tracks of study available, depending on the student’s interests. The first track is a 4-year, single-degree program for a B.Sc. in IEC at KMITL. Through the collaboration with the Faculty of Science at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, the second track consists of two years of study at KMITL for a B.Sc. in IEC followed by two years at the University of Strathclyde for a B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry. The third track combines three years of study at KMITL for a B.Sc. in IEC and one year at the University of Strathclyde for a certificate of higher education in Applied Chemistry.
